Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
1. Who We Are
This policy covers Deals Finder, operating dealsfinder.io (our US site), uk.dealsfinder.io (our UK site), and our iOS and Android apps. It explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Deals Finder is operated by a UK-registered company and is the data controller for the personal data described here. For company details, a data request, or any privacy question, use our contact page. It reaches the same inbox and, unlike an email address printed on a page, it cannot be scraped or mangled by our spam protection.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Account details: email address, username, password, country, and an optional profile photo
- Sign in with Google or Apple: your name, email address, and a provider account ID shared by Google or Apple
- Comments, votes, and deal reports you post
- Messages sent through our contact form
- Seller submissions: contact name, email, brand, and deal details, if you submit promo codes to us as a seller
Information collected automatically:
- Device and browser information, IP address, and approximate location (country level)
- Usage data such as pages visited and deals clicked
- In our mobile apps: a device identifier (UUID) and a push notification token. These are needed to deliver deal alerts to your device and to let you comment without an account.
- The IP address a comment was posted from, kept for moderation and abuse prevention
Moderation and blocking. When you report a comment or block someone, we record it. A block stores who you blocked, the name they were using at the time, a copy of the comment you blocked them over, which deal it was on, and any private note you choose to add. Notes are visible only to you and to our moderation team, never to the person you blocked. You can read, edit or delete your notes and unblock anyone at any time from your account settings or in the app. Guests are identified for this purpose by their device identifier, since they have no account.
Reports and blocks are handled entirely inside our own admin system, where our moderation team reviews them. They are not sent to any third party.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and improve the site and apps
- Send deal alerts and push notifications, where you have enabled them. You can turn these off any time in your device or account settings.
- Show region-appropriate content (US or UK deals and prices)
- Run community features such as comments, votes, Aura points, and the monthly prize draw
- Review and respond to seller promo code submissions
- Prevent fraud, spam, and abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
For users in the UK, our legal bases under UK GDPR are: performance of a contract (providing your account and the service), consent (marketing emails and push notifications), and legitimate interests (site security, fraud prevention, and improving the service).
4. Analytics, Cookies & Affiliate Links
We use Google Analytics on the website and Firebase (a Google service) in our apps for analytics and push notification delivery. These tools collect usage and device data on our behalf, subject to Google's privacy policy.
We use affiliate links from Amazon and other retailers. When you click these links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Retailers may set their own cookies to track the referral.
See our Cookies Policy for details on the cookies we use and how to manage them. On our UK site, analytics cookies are only set after you accept them via the cookie banner.
We do not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Service providers who run the site for us: hosting, Cloudflare (which sits in front of our sites and so processes visitors' IP addresses), email delivery, Google (Analytics, Firebase, Sign in with Google, and Tenor, whose GIF search we use in comments), and Apple (Sign in with Apple)
- Affiliate partners, limited to anonymised click data
- Law enforcement or regulators, when required by law
Public parts of the service show your username, profile photo, comments, and Aura tier. Activity feeds and leaderboards mask or shorten usernames where appropriate.
GIFs in comments come from Tenor, a Google service. We search Tenor from our own servers, so your searches are not sent to Tenor with anything identifying you. The GIF images themselves are loaded by your browser or app directly from Tenor, which means Tenor receives your IP address when a GIF is displayed. We never send Tenor your account details.
6. International Transfers
Both our US and UK sites run on shared infrastructure, and some of our service providers are based in the United States. If you are in the UK, your data may be transferred outside the UK. Where this happens we rely on safeguards such as the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
7. Data Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. If you request deletion, your account enters a 30-day grace period (so you can change your mind), after which your personal data is permanently deleted. Some records may be kept longer where the law requires it, for example fraud prevention or tax records.
During that grace period your likes stop counting publicly straight away, but the underlying records are kept so our moderation team can still review the account if it has been reported. They are deleted with everything else at the end of the 30 days. If you change your mind and sign back in, your likes count again.
Your blocks and any notes you wrote are deleted with your account, as are blocks other people made against you. Moderation alerts already sent to our internal channel are cleared under that channel's own retention schedule.
8. Your Rights
You can:
- Access a copy of your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Opt out of marketing emails and push notifications
To exercise any of these rights, or if you have any concern, contact us first via our contact page and we'll do our best to resolve it. If you are in the UK, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
9. Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by:
- Going to your account settings (web or app) and selecting "Delete Account"
- Sending a request via our contact page
Deletion covers your profile, comments, votes, Aura history, and notification preferences, and completes within 30 days of the request.
10. Children
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes & Contact
We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top shows the latest revision. For privacy questions or data requests, contact us.
